EPEX SPOT Joins SIDC Intraday Auctions Framework in the Baltics, Market Coupling Goes Live
Go-liveAs of 8 September 2026, EPEX SPOT joined the Single Intraday Coupling (SIDC) Intraday Auctions (IDA) framework in the Baltic region, establishing a Baltic Multi-NEMO Intraday Auction (MNA) Market Coupling involving AST, Elering, Nord Pool EMCO, EPEX SPOT, Fingrid, Litgrid, PSE and SVK.
The expansion extends implicit auction-based cross-zonal capacity pricing to the intraday timeframe in the Baltic bidding zones, complementing continuous intraday trading, enhancing competition among NEMOs, and supporting balancing and renewable integration across the interconnected EU region.
This is a concrete operational go-live milestone for SIDC IDA expansion, adding a second NEMO (EPEX SPOT) to the Baltic intraday auction market coupling alongside Nord Pool EMCO. It increases NEMO competition in the region and aligns intraday auction liquidity with the EU Target Model for integrated intraday markets. The parallel confirmation of a delayed day-ahead MNA go-live (end of September 2026, pushed back for operational readiness) signals sequencing risk between intraday and day-ahead integration projects, which market participants should monitor for potential further slippage.
